NEIFCA implements Emergency Byelaw

Fishery

North Eastern Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority in exercise of the powers conferred upon it under section 157 of the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 hereby provides notification of the implementation of an emergency fisheries byelaw regulation covering the use of dredges from a line drawn true east from the end of Filey Brigg (Lat 54o 12.91’N) intersecting the 6 nautical mile limit to a line drawn true east from Spurn Head light house (Lat. 53o 34.49’N) intersecting the 6 mile limit inclusive.

From 12 April 2012 inclusive, no person shall be permitted to use any type of dredge at any time for the purpose of fishing, or any other use in the area defined above. Any person or persons breaching the condition of the byelaw regulation could upon conviction be fined up to a maximum of £50,000.
